Hey! My name is Dan Moriarty, and I make websites.

I’m primarily a UX/UI designer, based in beautiful Minneapolis, MN. I also lead clients in digital strategy, conduct user testing, and practice content strategy, all while running the web agency Electric Citizen.

What I Do

For over 20 years I have been working on some aspect of web design, from planning and design to development and launch.

I’ve seen lots of change over time, but still come back to a focus on clear communication, effective design and good relationships.

I worked solo as Dan Moriarty Design for over a dozen years before co-founding the agency Electric Citizen in 2012.

When I’m not working on designs or the business, I write blog posts and give presentations at various conferences.

Latest Work

Here are some snapshots of what I’ve been up to recently. You can also view more work.

In 2021, Electric Citizen was selected to migrate and redesign the websites for the City of Santa Barbara, CA.

My primary role was to lead the design phase of the project, while also participating in various planning and discovery exercises (sitemap, user workshops, strategic brief). I also led a workshop around privacy experience.

I was one of the featured speakers at this annual conference of government and Drupal.
I conducted the latest version of my talk, "The Battle for Online Privacy," for an international audience.
In this blog post for Electric Citizen, I share the lessons I've learned about incorporating privacy concerns into your next site build.
